About Us
The Saturday Night Live AA Open Speaker Meeting started in 1989, and has been of service to the Twin Cities recovery community for over 35 years.
We meet every Saturday night at 7:30pm, including holidays, holy days, and snowy days.
We invite speakers from across the area, state, and country to share what is was like, what happened, and what they are like now.
The last Saturday of every other month is a voluntary call-up meeting, where members of the audience are called up to the podium to share their experience, strength, and hope with the group.
This is an open meeting, which means anyone is welcome to attend. You do not need to be a member of the recovery community to visit us and hear our stories.
What To Expect
Our meeting space is air-conditioned.
Enter the Basilica School building through the west door off 17th St. (Look for the smoking area sign.) The meeting is on the 3rd floor (top floor).
Doors open at 6:45pm. If you arrive before 6:45, you can call the numbers on the door to be let in.
The designated smoking area is to the south of the entrance by the metal fence (follow the arrow on the sign outside). Please use the yellow cigarette snuffer & disposal can, and please remain at least 50 feet from the entry door so the smoke does not enter the school building.
Restrooms are through the Great Hall and down the east stairs 1 floor. Please ask a volunteer for direction to accessible restrooms.
Coffee, tea, and other refreshments are available at every meeting.
The literature table at the back of the room has AA literature and medallions available for purchase, as well as pamphlets and flyers for other AA groups and activities. If you have a court card to be signed, you may bring it to the literature table to be signed.
Each week, our Trusted Servant selects a volunteer 5-minute speaker to share their experience, strength, and hope with the audience.
Volunteers are also recruited by the Trusted Servant to read 3 short readings during the meeting (How It Works, The Twelve Traditions, and The Promises).
Following the 5-minute speaker, our scheduled main speaker, which alternates male/female each week, takes the podium to share their story.
A 1st Step Meeting is offered immediately following the meeting at the front of the room until 9:00pm.
Childcare is not available for this meeting.
